The In a Pickle Festival was founded in 2018 by Krystal Wertman, to help bring liveliness back to Kingwood after Hurricane Harvey's catastrophic flooding ravished the town. Thousands of homes and businesses were destroyed. The slow process rebuilding seemed to take it's toll on residents and businesses alike. The area was devastated, all the markets were in decline, vendors couldn't find a place to work it was truly a sad time. Kingwood came together as neighbors and friends as a community. We helped each other rebuild. Eventually Kingwood healed. The festival, at least for us was a part of the healing that we much needed. The response from the community was amazing. The festival has gotten so popular we decided to bring it to other parts of Texas. We partnered with our non-profit The Hunter Syndrome Foundation to help raise awareness for a rare disease only found in young males that greatly reduces life expectancy.
